“you are part of the river and will return to the river”
Lynn Martin Water never looks so beautiful as when it plunges breaks over the long-drop and falls out of itself into droplets mist rain long strings of loud music crescendo all falling back into the river whole and unbroken again But the beauty is in the breaking the ending of one way sudden discovery of the other Sunlight can make its rainbow then Only then when the river comes apart lets go I have felt it There is a roaring like rage out of the chest It is never quiet that breaking that falling How can it be with the sheer volume of longing to move forever away from the body and pain to rise like mist and keep rising as if right now to heaven but always the pullback the downcome again into what you were what you are the racing away again to the sea
