From time to time, one of the new things we’ll try to do here at churchandpomo is offer resources to you hungry readers. As a practitioner and academic, I’ve found it helpful to delve into the vast virtual realm of the interwebs to mine them for whatever interesting tidbits I might find on continental thought, postmodern theology, and the very elusive bit which brings both of those together with practical ministry concerns. So the Resources will hopefully be digital bits that help inform you in any and all of those ways.
Today’s Resource comes to us from the UK. Steven Skakespeare, professor of philosopy at Liverpool Hope University, published Derrida and Theology in 2009. Since then, Steven has been filmed speaking about his work for the St. John’s Nottingham Theological Timeline. There’s all kinds of great theological resources there. Shakespeare’s contribution on Derrida and Theology is posted below for your edification. Steven is a great guy, a fine writer, and organizer of the Association for Continental Philosophy of Religion (see also their Facebook page). If you like what you see here, consider picking up his Derrida and Theology, which was highly recommended by one of the writers in our series, John D. Caputo, at the Association’s 2009 book launch in Liverpool.
