“Approximately two thousand of these ‘Easter’ Sundays have occurred and take a look around you: things aren’t any better. They’re actually worse. What’s improved since ‘the’ messiah showed up? We’re absolutely no better off than we were two thousand years ago. I don’t see how Jesus made the slightest bit of real difference at all.”
“We have resurrection.”
“Like I said, ‘the slightest bit of real difference’.”
“True. I guess it is hard to quantify resurrection. I’m not sure what that would look like. Maybe a Berrigan, a Daniel or a Dorothy Day taking on the empire. Perhaps a Francis preaching to wolves or a Sojourner taking on the church.”
“Really? That’s it? That’s the best you got?”
“Yeah. Yeah, I think it is.”
