Incredible. Alabama has now trumped Arizona in terms of bigotry toward the stranger.
I didn’t think such a thing was possible.
All of the fine upstanding moral Christians responsible must be proud . . . and incredibly ignorant of the Bible’s straightforward stance in relation to practicing hospitality to the stranger/exile/alien. Here’s just one example:
When an alien resides with you in your land, you shall not oppress the alien. The alien who resides with you shall be to you as the citizen among you; you shall love the alien as yourself, for you were aliens in the land of Egypt: I am the Lord your God. (Lev. 19:33-34)
Hahaha. That’s great. “You shall love the alien as yourself.” Oh, that’s just rich. Whew. What a sense of humor God has–that Bible is just so silly, isn’t it?
By the way, you guys do realize that when the Bible talks about aliens it’s not referring to Martians, right? I just wanted to make sure. I can’t make assumptions about these kinds of things. Not that Martians would be welcome, of course. I mean, once you let Hispanics in the next thing you know some asshole from Mars is trying to take your job!
(Martians, you’ve been forewarned: do not visit Alabama . . . or Arizona–as a matter of fact, you may want to try a country without so many Christians living in it–those kids are just plain mean and hateful.)
It must be nice to live in a state where you no longer have to extend aid to a fellow human that law has decreed unworthy of care, compassion and mercy. Hell, it’s not even allowed. Due to new laws, if your neighbor asks you for a ride then you better make sure they are an official citizen of the USA–otherwise you just committed a crime.
That’s right, check it out: http://latino.foxnews.com/latino/politics/2011/06/10/alabama-illegal-immigration-law-tougher-than-arizonas/
My thinking is we need to start a shuttle service. Tote those mofos to a more hospitable land where racism and intolerance do not exist.
Anyone know where that would be?
I keep thinking the Bible Belt would be a good place, but the only thing Christians here take seriously are stories of talking serpents and personal relationships with a deity who apparently would not extend a helping hand to someone who is not “legal.” Really sounds like they got that whole Jesus-thing down, doesn’t it?
God is so going to kill us all.
