David JP Hooker

David JP Hooker is a transplanted Southerner who is glad to see his third winter in Wheaton, Illinois come to a close. He received an MFA in Ceramics from Kent State University, and currently teaches at Wheaton College. David’s artwork combines images from his daily life, art history, pop culture, and other assorted bits and pieces that inspire him in peculiar ways. David’s interests lie in how our culture shapes us and how we in turn can shape our culture. His work has been widely exhibited, and can be found in the South Carolina State Museum Permanent Collection, First Charter’s Corporate Headquarters in Charlotte, North Carolina, and the Woodruff Branch of the Spartanburg County Library in South Carolina. Recent exhibitions include an exhibition paintings at Virginia Tech, a one person exhibition at Milliken University, and a group show at Loyola University. When David is not freaking out over deadlines, he enjoys spending time with his wife, Elaine, his children Abbey and Samuel, his dog, Mac, and his cat, Booger. He also enjoys baseball, basketball, BBQ, and tennis—not necessarily in that order.
