This is a review of William T. Cavanaugh’s Being Consumed: Economics and Christian Desire.
Frank Valdez is an autodidact who resides in Tampa, Florida. He, with Erasmus, spends his money on books, and if he has money left over, he buys food and clothes. Valdez has a couple of useless degrees that take up space in his files but (though he once taught in public schools) has generally found that going to school interrupts his education, which he pursues through reading good books and engaging in thoughtful conversations.
