Mark C. Watney reflects on his father’s struggle with Alzheimer’s disease in the broader context of our own ubiquitous spiritual dementia.
Mark C. Watney is an English professor at Sterling College in Kansas. He was born and raised in South Africa, immigrated to the United States in 1977 as a high school senior, and then lived in Turkey and Japan, teaching and studying, before returning to Los Angeles as a high school English teacher and completing his PhD at the University of Texas at Dallas. Watneyhas recently been published in Avatar Review, Saint Katherine Review, and Dappled Things.
