The Other Journal discusses the paintings and processes of the Korean visual artist Mihyang Kim.
Mihyang Kim is an emerging artist who was born in the farmland of Jeonju, Korea, currently lives in Los Angeles, California, and received her MFA from Claremont Graduate University. Kim’s art is informed by the pain and suffering caused by politics and war, as well as by her full-time work as a nurse, which leads her into daily encounters with narratives of distress, grief, and illness—particularly among immigrants who are struggling in their new homeland. More information about Kim and her work can be found at her website: http://www.mihyangkim.org.
