Sonja Livingston is the author of four books of literary nonfiction, including her latest, The Virgin of Prince Street, which uses an unexpected return to her childhood church to explore changes in personal and cultural concepts of devotion. Her first book, Ghostbread, won an AWP Book Prize for Nonfiction and has been widely adopted for classroom use. Livingston’s writing has been honored with a NYFA Fellowship, an Iowa Review Award, a VanderMey Nonfiction Prize, and an Arts and Letters Essay Prize, as well as grants from Vermont Studio Center and the Deming Fund for Women. Livingston is an associate professor of creative writing at Virginia Commonwealth University.
