A while back I posted a capsule review of Scenes From a Parish, and ever since then I have become increasingly convinced that this is a film more people with even the slightest interest in Christian praxis beyond the culture wars should make an effort to see. It is a very understated, modest film – but so is the local mission it tracks. And for those that stay current in the movements of Christian theology and practice, it is a nice change of pace from the the flashy navel-gazing of all things Emergent/ing.
And thankfully, PBS is going to show it in their Independent Lens series on Dec. 29. Make sure to track it down and tag it on your DVR.
